Disperse Red 167:1

Disperse Red 167:1 ECO is an environmentally oriented disperse dye supplied as a deep red powder with uniform dispersion characteristics. When applied to polyester fibers, it produces a clear blue-shade red with stable color build-up and good batch repeatability, making it suitable for applications where shade accuracy is critical.

The dye shows comparatively low sensitivity to common metal ions such as copper and iron, resulting in reduced risk of unwanted shade variation during processing. Nevertheless, for consistent results, the use of softened water and non-metallic processing equipment is recommended. Disperse Red 167:1 ECO performs best in a mildly acidic environment, with optimal dye uptake and shade stability achieved at a pH of approximately 4–5.

In terms of fastness performance, the dye exhibits excellent resistance to sublimation and strong lightfastness. These properties support its use in demanding end-use sectors, including automotive interior textiles and outdoor functional fabrics, where thermal exposure and light durability are essential. The dye is particularly well suited to high-temperature, high-pressure dyeing processes, typically conducted in the range of 125–135°C.

During application, the dye may show limited leveling ability in pale shades. This can be effectively managed through the use of appropriate leveling auxiliaries and controlled heating profiles. Carrier dyeing is generally unsuitable for this product. In hot-melt dyeing systems, fixation temperatures above 200°C are required to ensure full color development and fastness.

Disperse Red 167:1 ECO is primarily intended for polyester fibers. When applied to triacetate, the resulting shade appears slightly warmer, while diacetate produces a tone comparable to polyester but with reduced dye absorption. The dye is not recommended for acrylic fibers. In printing, it is suitable for direct printing on polyester and may also be used as a light to medium ground shade in resist or anti-discharge printing on polyester/cotton blends, delivering clean outlines and strong color contrast. Care should be taken to avoid simultaneous processing with alkaline reactive dyes, as alkaline conditions may adversely affect dye stability and shade integrity.

Adventures: The defining characteristic of the eco-friendly disperse dye series is the refinement of their chemical composition to strictly control or remove substances of environmental and regulatory concern, including restricted aromatic amines, high-risk heavy metals, and excessive levels of AOX. This optimization enables the dyes to comply with major international sustainability standards and brand requirements such as OEKO-TEX®, bluesign®, and ZDHC MRSL. As a result, they are well suited for access to high-end markets-especially in Europe and North America-and for achieving environmental certifications. At the same time, these dyes preserve strong dyeing performance while markedly improving ecological safety and supply-chain compliance.

Recommend process: The eco-friendly disperse dye series follows essentially the same application methods as their conventional counterparts, since the environmental improvements focus on higher chemical purity rather than changes to the dyeing mechanism. Accordingly, the main recommended processes remain high-temperature, high-pressure dyeing and hot-melt (thermosol) roll dyeing.
