Levulinic Acid

Levopropionic acid, also known as levulinic acid or fructose acid, is primarily used as a raw material in the manufacture of resins, pharmaceuticals, fragrances, and coatings. In the pharmaceutical industry, its calcium salts can be used to produce intravenous injections and other products. Its lower esters can be used as flavorings in tobacco. Bisphenolic acids made from this product can be used to produce water-soluble resins, which are applied in the paper industry to produce filter paper. It can also be used in the manufacture of pesticides, dyes, and surfactants. Furthermore, it can be used as an extraction and separation agent.
