Product Details
Aluminum diethyl phosphonate is a highly efficient and environmentally friendly organic phosphonate flame retardant, appearing as a white, free-flowing powder. Its core advantages lie in outstanding thermal stability and a unique phosphorus-aluminum synergistic flame retardancy mechanism.
With an initial decomposition temperature exceeding 300°C, this product withstands the high-temperature processing of engineering plastics such as polyamide and polyester, ensuring processing stability and product appearance. The phosphorus-aluminum system within its molecules captures free radicals in the gas phase to interrupt chain reactions, while simultaneously promoting the formation of a dense, insulating char layer in the condensed phase, thereby achieving highly effective flame retardancy. This biphasic synergistic action enables outstanding performance at low loading levels, coupled with low smoke and low toxicity characteristics, meeting green environmental requirements.
In engineering plastic applications, ADEP has minimal impact on the inherent properties of the material matrix. In systems such as PA6, PA66, PBT, PET, and epoxy resins, a typical 15-25% loading enables materials to achieve UL94 V-0 flame retardancy while effectively preserving the substrate's mechanical strength, electrical insulation, and tracking resistance index-critical properties for electronic and electrical components. Additionally, it is suitable for textile coatings and specialty fibers, enabling the development of durable flame-retardant fabrics.
In summary, aluminum diethylphosphinate, through its unique synergistic mechanism, provides highly effective flame retardant protection while maximally preserving the comprehensive properties of polymeric materials. It represents an ideal flame retardant solution for high-end engineering applications.

Recommended Dosage
In high-temperature nylon systems, an addition of approximately 10% by weight of ADP is sufficient to achieve a UL 94 V-0 flame retardant rating for materials with thicknesses of 1.6mm and 0.8mm. Due to variations in polymer substrate type, processing parameters, and glass fiber addition ratios, the amount of ADP used in actual production can be adjusted according to the specific operating conditions.
Before adding ADP, the polymer substrate must be pre-dried according to standard process requirements. It is recommended to control the substrate moisture content to the following standard ranges: high-temperature nylon moisture content should be less than 0.1% by weight, PBT moisture content should be less than 0.05% by weight, and PET moisture content should be less than 0.005% by weight. ADP itself does not require pre-drying. However, if the production system has stringent requirements for overall moisture content, ADP can be pre-dried, for example, by drying at 120℃ for 4 hours.
ADP is compatible with conventional mixing and processing techniques for powder materials; the specific addition method can be determined based on actual production conditions. During processing, it is necessary to ensure that all components are uniformly dispersed in the system, and at the same time, the polymer melt temperature must be strictly controlled and must not exceed 350℃.
Precautions
1. During use, avoid inhaling dust or contact with skin and eyes.
2. Operate in a well-ventilated area and wear appropriate personal protective equipment, such as gloves and safety goggles.
3. During storage and handling, avoid contact with strong oxidizers or acids to prevent hazardous reactions.
