Thiourea Dioxide (TDO) is a highly efficient and environmentally friendly strong reducing agent, appearing as white crystalline powder or granules. In its dry state, its chemical properties are extremely stable, facilitating safe storage and transportation. However, when dissolved in water, particularly under alkaline conditions, it undergoes a controlled decomposition process, slowly releasing the highly reducing sulfinic acid. This reaction gives it a mild and controllable reduction potential (standard reduction potential approximately -1.23V). More importantly, its final decomposition products are urea and sulfate, which are non-toxic and non-polluting. Consequently, it is hailed in the industry as a paradigm of "green reducing agents", perfectly aligning with the stringent requirements of modern clean production.
