Basic Red 46

Basic Red 46 is a high-performance cationic dye, presented as a dark red homogeneous powder. It boasts excellent solubility (up to 80 g/L in water at 30°C) and superior stability in solution and during storage.

This dye offers outstanding coloring properties, producing a vibrant, bluish-red shade on acrylic fibers. Please note that its shade may appear more yellowish under tungsten-filament light sources, a characteristic that requires consideration in practical applications based on the lighting environment. The shade exhibits good stability under high-temperature dyeing conditions (e.g., 120°C), resisting significant color shifts from temperature fluctuations. During the dyeing process, it demonstrates relatively low sensitivity to metal ions: contact with copper ions causes only a slight shade change, while iron ions leave the color largely unaffected, and chromium ions result in a minor, acceptable variation.

With a compatibility value (k-value) of 2.5, this dye possesses a moderate migration rate in combination dyeing. This makes it ideal for mixing with other cationic dyes of similar k-values, ensuring level dyeing results and excellent shade reproducibility.

Basic Red 46 is primarily used for dyeing acrylic loose stock, tops, and yarn, especially for mid-to-high-end acrylic products requiring vivid shades and high color fastness. Its excellent build-up and coverage properties allow it to achieve a full range of shades, from pale to deep colors. Furthermore, it is suitable for direct printing on acrylic fabrics, yielding patterns with sharp outlines and rich, full colors. Color fastness can be further enhanced through appropriate after-treatment processes.
