Acid Dyes for Nylon

Nylon (polyamide) contains terminal amino groups (-NH₂) that respond to acid dyes similarly to wool. This makes acid dyes an excellent choice for nylon coloration — delivering bright shades, good fastness, and excellent process flexibility.

INNO CHEM can supply following items meeting ZDHC,Bluesign,OEKO-TEX class|environmental standard.

Usage Procedure for Acid Dyes For Nylon

Pre-Washing
Pre-wash the nylon fabric to remove any impurities or finishes.

Preparing the Dye Bath
Dissolve the nylomine acid dye in warm water in the dyeing pot. The amount of dye and water depends on the weight of the fabric and the desired colour intensity.

Acidifying the Bath
Add an acidic agent such as acetic acid or white vinegar to the dye bath. The typical ratio is about 60 ml (1/4 cup) of vinegar per 4.5 litres (1 gallon) of water, but this may vary.

Adding the Fabric
Submerge the pre-washed fabric in the dye bath, ensuring it’s fully immersed and spread out evenly.

Acid Red 249

Heating and Stirring
Heat the dye bath gently, stirring continuously to ensure even temperature and dye distribution.

Dyeing Time
The fabric should remain in the dye bath for a variable amount of time, typically between 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the desired shade.

Rinsing and Washing
After dyeing, rinse the fabric in cool water until the water runs clear. Then wash it in warm water with a mild detergent to remove any unreacted dye.

Drying
Dry the fabric as normal.

FAQ

Q: Why does my acid dyeing on nylon show barriness (stripes)?

A: Barriness on nylon stems from: (1) Dyeing too fast — nylon's crystalline structure causes differential dye uptake along the fiber; (2) Insufficient leveling — acid dyes strike faster on nylon than wool; (3) Temperature variation — uneven heat in the machine. Solutions: Start dyeing at 50°C, heat slowly (1°C/min), use leveling agents (e.g., Lyogen DFT), and consider adding carrier chemicals to temporarily plasticize nylon for more uniform dyeing.

Q: What is the MOQ for acid dyes for nylon?

A: Standard MOQ is 25kg per color. Sample packs (1-5kg) are available for lab evaluation. For nylon applications, we recommend requesting fastness testing (wash, light, rub, chlorine) on your specific substrate before bulk ordering. Contact our sales team with your fabric specifications and performance requirements.

Q: What causes acid dyes to migrate or bleed on nylon during wear?

A: Bleeding usually indicates: (1) Insufficient fixation — dye did not fully exhaust or penetrate; (2) Washing at excessive temperature — nylon softens above 60°C; (3) Mechanical abrasion — friction during washing releases surface dye. Prevention: Use milling or metal-complex acid dyes for wash-resistant applications, ensure thorough rinsing after dyeing, and wash at 30-40°C for delicate nylon items.

As one of the most professional acid classic dyes manufacturers and suppliers in China, we offer a wide range of products with superior quality. Please feel free to buy high-grade acid classic dyes made in China here from our factory. For price consultation, contact us.
