Properties of Acid Dyes For Wool

Preparing the Dye Bath
Add water, dissolved dye, pH buffer (such as an acetate-sodium acetate system, controlling the pH at 4.5-5.5), and leveling agent to the dye bath.
Immersion
Immerse the treated fibers or fabric in the dye bath at approximately 50°C, circulating for 10-15 minutes to ensure even wetting.
Heating and Dyeing:
Increase the temperature slowly and controllably (e.g., 1°C/minute) to the boiling point or target temperature (e.g., 95°C).
This stage is crucial for dye adsorption and diffusion. Slow heating is key to achieving even dyeing.
Intensive dyeing
Maintain dyeing at the boiling point or target temperature for 30-60 minutes to ensure full dye fixation.
Cooling and post-treatment:
After dyeing, slowly cool (to prevent felting or shrinkage of the wool).
After cooling to below 50°C, drain the dye bath and perform a thorough wash.
For products requiring high wet fastness, a color-fixing post-treatment (using a specialized color-fixing agent) can be performed.
