Product Details

Vat Blue 66 is an anthraquinone-type vat dye supplied as a deep blue, uniform powder or granules. It is insoluble in water and is applied through the conventional vatting mechanism: in an alkaline reducing system, the dye is converted into its soluble leuco form, which penetrates cellulose fibers. Subsequent oxidation restores the dye to its original insoluble state within the fiber, forming a stable blue shade with excellent durability.

This dye is well known for its reliable fastness profile. On cellulose fibers such as cotton and viscose, it delivers very good wash fastness (4–5) and outstanding light fastness (7–8), along with strong resistance to perspiration and chlorine bleaching. These properties make it suitable for textiles exposed to repeated laundering or outdoor conditions, including workwear, uniforms, and technical fabrics. Beyond pure cotton, it can be applied to vinylon and is commonly used in two-bath processes for polyester/cotton blends. In silk-related applications, it is widely used for rayon and rayon/cotton fabrics and can also function as a base shade for discharge printing on natural silk.

Vat Blue 66 offers broad process flexibility. It performs well in exhaust dyeing for yarns, knitted fabrics, and small production runs, where good penetration and shade control are required. In jig dyeing, it provides uniform coloration and consistent results for woven fabrics in open-width form. For large-scale manufacturing, pad dyeing combined with steaming or wet development enables high productivity and deep, full shades.

In addition, the dye can be processed via the soluble vat (Indigosol-type) route by converting it into a sulfate ester sodium salt, allowing direct printing on cotton fabrics. This method produces sharp designs and bright, stable colors while simplifying printing operations.
