It dissolves readily in water to form a clear blue solution, although slight sedimentation may occur after extended standing due to molecular association in solution. For identification purposes, the dye shows a yellow-green shade in concentrated sulfuric acid, which changes to a reddish-blue tone after dilution-an observable reaction commonly used in routine quality checks.

From an application perspective, Acid Blue 127:1 has strong substantivity toward protein fibers and polyamide fibers. It is mainly applied to silk, wool, and nylon, where it produces clean and even shades under mildly acidic to near-neutral dyeing conditions. The dye is characterized by good build-up, stable shade reproduction, and reliable leveling behavior. On silk, it yields a refined and bright blue; on nylon, the shade appears slightly warmer with a reddish nuance; while on wool, it delivers good coverage with balanced overall fastness. Careful control of dye bath pH and temperature is recommended to achieve optimal uniformity and to protect sensitive fibers.

In addition to textile use, Acid Blue 127:1 is widely employed in leather dyeing. It penetrates leather effectively and develops a deep, uniform blue tone with good resistance to dry and wet rubbing, along with moderate light fastness.
