Fluorescent Brightener 135 is an advanced non‑ionic optical brightening agent presented in the form of a stable, milky‑white paste. The product exhibits excellent dispersion characteristics and a neutral chemical nature, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of textile and industrial formulations. It possesses a melting point of approximately 180 °C, which reflects its structural stability under moderate thermal conditions. In terms of solubility, it is insoluble in water but readily dissolves in polar organic solvents such as dimethylformamide (DMF) and ethanol, facilitating its incorporation into solvent‑based systems. A notable feature of Fluorescent Brightener 135 is its broad pH adaptability. It remains effective in acidic environments within the pH range of 2–3, as well as under alkaline conditions around pH 10. This versatility allows it to be used in varied chemical settings without loss of performance. Moreover, the product demonstrates outstanding stability in hard water; it maintains full functionality even in water with a hardness of up to 5 × 10⁻⁴ mol/L, showing no signs of precipitation, flocculation, or chemical degradation.

Such robustness makes it particularly suitable for industrial processes where water quality may fluctuate. The recommended application temperature for dyeing or whitening in neutral to weakly alkaline baths is 150 °C. At this temperature, the brightener diffuses uniformly into synthetic fibers, achieving optimal whitening efficiency. Furthermore, Fluorescent Brightener 135 can withstand high‑temperature baking or heat‑setting processes at 180–200 °C, making it compatible with common thermal finishing operations in textile manufacturing. Both the concentrated paste and its diluted preparations show no photosensitivity, meaning they do not degrade or lose activity upon exposure to light during storage or handling.
