Product Details
Naphthol AS-LC is a functional azoic coupling component designed for applications that demand precise color control and durable fastness performance. It is supplied as a pale gray to off-white powder with consistent particle characteristics, making it suitable for both industrial-scale processing and controlled laboratory use. Owing to its sensitivity to light and oxidation, the material should be protected from direct illumination and air exposure during storage to maintain stable coupling behavior over time.
From a chemical standpoint, AS-LC shows negligible solubility in water, a feature that is essential for its role in in-fiber pigment formation. At the same time, it dissolves readily in selected polar organic solvents such as pyridine and N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF), allowing accurate preparation of working solutions and intermediates. This selective solubility profile supports precise process control, particularly in systems where controlled deposition and fixation of color components are required.
In textile dyeing, Naphthol AS-LC is applied as a coupling component in classical azoic (naphthol) dyeing processes. Under alkaline conditions, it can be effectively taken up by cellulose-based fibers, including cotton and linen, as well as certain protein fibers such as silk. Once absorbed, the material is developed by treatment with suitable diazonium salts. The coupling reaction occurs directly within the fiber matrix, generating insoluble azo pigments that are mechanically anchored inside the substrate. This in-situ pigment formation results in clear orange-yellow shades with good depth and uniformity. Fabrics dyed using AS-LC exhibit strong resistance to washing and rubbing, making the product suitable for continuous or semi-continuous dyeing of workwear, furnishing textiles, and other articles exposed to frequent use or environmental stress.
In addition to its role in textile coloration, Naphthol AS-LC has established value in biochemical and histochemical applications. It is commonly used as a coupling reagent in enzyme staining techniques, particularly in phosphatase assays. During these reactions, enzymatically released naphthol intermediates react with AS-LC in the presence of diazonium salts, forming insoluble, localized color deposits. This reaction enables clear visualization of enzyme activity in tissue sections and cell samples, supporting analytical work in life science research and diagnostic investigations.
Produced under controlled manufacturing conditions, our Naphthol AS-LC is characterized by stable purity and dependable performance. It provides a reliable option for users requiring consistent results in both textile dyeing operations and precision-focused laboratory applications.

Uses
This product is mainly used as an intermediate for organic pigments, and can be used to produce Pigment Red 146 and 184. It can also be used for dyeing cotton fabrics, viscose, silk, nylon, and polyester, but is generally not used for printing, and is rarely used for dyeing cotton yarn. This product has a high affinity for cotton and a moderate coupling ability.
