The chemical name of Fast Red KD Base is 3-amino-4-methoxybenzoylaniline, a high-performance azo dye diazo component. It appears as a white to light gray crystalline powder with the molecular formula C₁₄H₁₄N₂O₂ and molecular weight 242.28. It exhibits a distinct melting range (154-156°C). This product is insoluble in water but soluble in common organic solvents such as DMF and glacial acetic acid. The aromatic primary amino group, methoxy group, and benzamide group in its structure collectively determine its unique chemical properties and application performance.
During the dyeing process, the fast red KD base undergoes conversion to an active diazonium salt cation in a low-temperature acidic medium through the action of sodium nitrite. This cation then undergoes an in situ coupling reaction with the pre-applied azo dye component from the AS series (e.g., AS-OL, AS-BS) to form insoluble azo lakes within cellulose fibers like cotton, viscose, and linen. The resulting hues range from vivid, fast blue-red to deep red, exhibiting exceptional wash, rub, and lightfastness. This makes it ideal for dyeing and printing workwear fabrics, outdoor textiles, and high-end home textiles demanding superior colorfastness.
Beyond serving as a key intermediate for textile dyeing, the fast red KD base also functions as a crucial precursor for synthesizing high-performance organic pigments (such as certain azo condensation pigments) due to its molecular stability and chromogenic strength. It finds extensive application in automotive coatings, industrial inks, and engineering plastic coloring, delivering outstanding heat resistance and migration resistance.




Synthesis of the Fast Red KD Base
1.4-Methoxy-3-aminobenzoylaniline is prepared by reacting 3-aminobenzoylaniline with methanol. This reaction can be carried out at room temperature, and excess methanol is required as the reaction medium.
2.After the reaction is complete, the reaction product is purified by crystallization, filtration, and drying to obtain high-purity 4-methoxy-3-aminobenzoylaniline.
